I saw the ubiquitous Pinterest "
Baby Playing with Christmas Lights" photo and wanted to try something similar with Hannah. However, I kept forgetting to do it-story of my brain right now-so today while putting away Christmas decor I quickly handed my babe a string of lights, turned off the room lights and tried snapping away. A few problems quickly were realized 1) I didn't think to set up a tripod which meant I had to have a low f and a higher shutter speed, 2) Babe was not wearing anything "special" and the all important number 3) babies will eat plugged in lights-not sure why this didn't occur to me since even the Pinterest picture had a baby eating the lights. So after a few quick clicks I decided to save electrocuting my babe for another year.

The innocent first exploration. |
|
Then right to the mouth. |
|
Being determined me I removed the lights from the mouth and safe touching resumed. |
|
I am so easily fooled-I thought that she was just touching the lights more intently. |
|
But no, she was just working them back up to her mouth. |
|
So she could try a mouthful of electricity. Yeah, mother of the year award here. At this point my fear took over and my very short lived light experiment ended. |

Well almost over. L, who was up stairs for most of the three minutes I clicked away while Hannah danced with death, informed me that we needed "a big sister with lights" picture too. |
LOL! That's so funny, and beautiful!! I've pinned that same baby photo and I would say your second photo (with the lights in the mouth) is dead on :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Okay, you've inspired me to use my new camera and do this with Liv!
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing! Someday you have to give me lessons on how to take these amazing shots of your girls. I just get a lot of blur and orange tint.
ReplyDeleteTruly, these are phenomenal. They need printed and framed in a multiple-opening frame. So beautiful.
