Why Intentful not Intentional

Why intentful and not intentional: I was thinking about how much time I spend just thinking but not actually doing and laughed to myself that I was a "thoughtful" person but what I need to be is an "intentful" person. My thoughts need to transcend into intentional action and thus I need to move away from being "thoughtful" to "intentful".

Bird Costume-Halloween 2011

The Costumes
After changing her mind a few times L finally decided that she wanted Hannah and her to be birds. I was thrilled with this final decision as the costume for it would be much easier to make than her previous plans and at the time sleep was still a short commodity. I used this for the wings, although L of course wanted to be a pink, purple and yellow bird. For the front of L's costume I just got a long sleeved T-shirt and cut-out large "feathers" to attach to it. From the moment the costume idea was conceived L was very persistent that she needed a yellow beak and I was at lost on how to make it till a friend suggested using the pointy part of an egg carton-brilliant! I was expecting the beak to be one of those things she wanted in theory but wouldn't actually wear in action-I was very wrong she loved the beak. And although I didn't love this years costume as much as last years I was happy with the end results.

The back of Hannah's.
In Action Take One
The Friday before Halloween we met up with our favorite friends in the midst of a down pour to take part in our little town's annual businesses trick or treating event. The kids were troopers and even tried to be good sports about taking the annual bridge picture in the pouring rain. Hannah & Lo both slept in their BOBs-yeah for those extended sunshields-for nearly the entire outing.
L & Aub braving the downpour for the sake of candy.

The cutest "silly" pumpkin I ever did meet.
Everyone wet, but everyone happy.

Trying to get the bridge picture with the kids thinking "it is wet and we are not getting candy for this."
May need to tone down the bird a bit.

All looking yet not a single smile.
Best one, although Kellen is smiling at that silly bird.

The bird trying to protect the princess from the rain.
And the princess saying thank you with a kiss to the beak.
My personal favorite.

 In Action Take Two
On Halloween night we all met up at Amy's to take advantage of getting our treats on in her neighborhood's over the top decorations. It was COLD but clear. Amy & Don kept us parents warm with bear & wine in to-go cups. Although being discrete with the alcohol vanished when Tom opened another bottle on someone's driveway with the largest wine opener I have ever seen. The fun night ended with a viewing  of "Charlie Brown's Great Pumpkin Halloween" (Thanks Amy for taking all the pictures!)

Picture of the group minus the Hinchliff girls-they arrived about 60 seconds after this was taken and the kids were all way to excited for a redo. (Due to the weather Hannah's changed to a very warm baby girl bear costume made by Baby Gap).
Hannah spent to evening watching the big kids intently.

Discussing how much candy they already have.
Running for more.
Being rewarded for their run.
The remaining troops unwinding to Charlie Brown.

  1. SO freaking cute! And I love love love the picture of the girls under the umbrella. Like, you should put it in a contest. It's so beautiful. The fairy from last year was super cute, but I think the birds are more original. And I never would have thought of the egg carton beak. Brilliant!
